La Salle University’s 12th annual Day of Giving, held on April 9, 2025, brought the entire university community together for a day full of generosity, excitement, and purpose. It wasn’t just a day of donations—it was a celebration of unity, Lasallian values, and the spirit of giving. This year’s event made history by raising a record-breaking $1.9 million through more than 1,500 donations, setting a new benchmark in the university’s tradition of philanthropy.
A Record-Breaking Year of Giving
For the fifth year in a row, La Salle’s Day of Giving crossed the $1 million mark. The donations came from a wide range of supporters—students, alumni, staff, faculty, Christian Brothers, and friends of the university—showing just how strong the La Salle community really is.
University President Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D., shared his appreciation:
“On behalf of the entire La Salle community, I want to say thank you to all who supported La Salle’s Day of Giving this year. Your generosity helps us provide an exceptional learning experience and the resources our students need to be known for more.”
What is Day of Giving?
Day of Giving (also known as DoG) is a one-day event where the La Salle community comes together to raise funds for student support, academics, athletics, and more. It’s a chance for everyone connected to the university to contribute to its growth and success.
This year, one of the major highlights was the impressive 112% increase in donations to La Salle Athletics, showing the community’s rising support for student-athletes.
A Day Full of Campus Fun and Energy
The entire campus joined in the celebration with lots of fun activities to keep the excitement high. There were:
- A scavenger hunt where students unlocked donations through participation
- Arts and crafts in the Union
- Lawn games and giveaways
- Delicious food like Humpty’s Dumplings and hot “DoGs”
- Special giving cords for graduating students who donated $20.25
These events brought students together and made giving feel personal, fun, and meaningful.
Honouring Lasallian Values
This year’s Day of Giving took place during Mission and Heritage Week, a time when the university celebrates its core Lasallian values of faith, service, and community.
In the evening, the La Salle community came together for a community dinner and celebrated the closing moments of the Day of Giving with the announcement of the Distinguished Lasallian Educator Awards. The 2025 honorees were:
- Daniel S. “Reg” Kim, lead student success coach and lecturer in Religion and Theology
- Kelly Daily, Ph.D., chair of the Communication and Expressive Arts Department
Their dedication to education and student success was warmly applauded.
A Legacy of Generosity
Since the Day of Giving began more than ten years ago, La Salle has raised over $8.4 million in support of its mission. Each year, the event grows bigger, with more participation, more impact, and more opportunities for students to thrive.
As Freddie Pettit, vice president of university advancement, said:
“This was such an incredible showing of generosity by the Explorer faithful. From lead donors to students giving $20.25, the support we received was extraordinary. We’re truly grateful.”
La Salle’s Day of Giving 2025 wasn’t just about the money—it was about people coming together to make a difference in students’ lives and in the future of the university. With so much community spirit, the road ahead looks brighter than ever.
